Christmas time in Nannup
Christmas in Nannup
The weather is warming up down here. As the line from ‘An Australian Christmas Carol’ goes, the grass in the paddock is brown. While Nannup does have around 40 km of coastline in the Shire, it’s a good ways south of town so when locals want to cool off, we generally head down to one of the natural swimming holes in the Blackwood River, such as Barrabup Pool, which also has both picnic and camping facilities kindly managed by the good folks at the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
You can’t keep a Nannupian away from the barbecue and lots of people head outdoors for the evening meal. The sun goes down around 7:30 pm at this time of year so it’s nice to sit outside and watch the sun go down with a glass of something cool.
Local businesses are all geared up for Christmas, decorations are out along the main street and local houses are lit up with seasonal cheer. Come New Year, the Jalbarragup community will hold its annual Embers Cup cricket match which helps to raise money for the local fire brigade and of course all our hard working vollies and career fire fighters will be standing ready to keep our community safe from fire.
In other news, Nannup Real Estate has just signed up for a rather exciting sponsorship and we’ll be telling you more about it in the New Year. It’s going to be awesome!
Whatever you believe and celebrate, we wish you all the best for the festive season and we wish you a safe and happy New Year.
