Now the Festival is Over
Another summer, another Nannup Music Festival. The March long weekend is traditionally a big one for Nannup as that’s the time when the Nannup Music Club pulls out all the stops and hosts the annual Music Festival. It started out as a festival of folk music, but these days it’s positively eclectic with everything from folk to country to rock. About the only thing we haven’t seen is classical or neo-classical and that’s probably just because nobody’s thought to invite WASO yet. It wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see them here sooner or later, though.
Festival time, be it Music Festival, Flower and Garden Week or the Food Bowl, is a busy time for local businesses and residents as visitors flock in from far and wide. It’s a time when people discover Nannup. Unfortunately this year some of our visitors had light fingers. So Nannupians may be a bit more wary next year. Still, we live and learn, and Nannup remains a safe and happy place to live, grow and connect.
The town is quiet now, as it often is post-fest, and everyone has finished cleaning up. Now we take a deep breath, look around at our lovely little corner of the world and spend a few guilty minutes having a secretive little gloat. Why? Because we live here and the rest of the world doesn’t. Ner-ner-ner-ner-ner!
